Revenue Generated From Fake Twitter Accounts

Online security researchers estimate that the market for fake Twitter accounts generates between $40 million to $360 million per year.

According to one study, the average price for a Twitter user to purchase 1,000 fake followers is $18. The fake followers are generally sold in batches of 1,000 to 1 million.

Some sellers of fake Twitter accounts are able to sell accounts for $2 to 30. The value of a fake account depends on how often it was used, whether it has a picture in its profile, and whether it links to legitimate websites.
