Portion of Cigarettes Sold Illegally in Malaysia in 2011

In 2010 and 2011, the rate of cigarettes sold on the black market in Malaysia was estimated to be at 36.6 percent of all cigarettes sold. Cigarette smuggling caused the amount of illicit cigarettes to increase from the 15 percent sold in 2009.

The Government of Malaysia losses an estimated $200 Million a year in taxes each year to sales of illegal tobacco.
