Opium production in Afghanistan 2010

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime estimated that there were 123,000 hectares of opium that was cultivated in 2010. The 123,000 hectares yielded 3,600 metric tons of opium, down 48 percent from the 6,900 metric tons of opium in 2009.

The drop was due to a weather blight that affected production in key provinces.
