Number of Children Working for Mexican Drug Cartels

An estimated 30,000 Mexicans under the age of 18 are believed to be working for drug cartels in Mexico.

Young boys are employed as lookouts, while young girls repackage wholesale drugs into individual units for sale in the streets. Teenagers are employed to smuggle drugs across the border into the United States.
