Marijuana Use by College Athletes

22.6 percent of student-athletes in the United States who participated in a 2009 survey admitted to using marijuana with the previous year. The number of student-athletes admitting to using marijuana was higher in 2009 than the 21.2 percent rate in 2005.

In the 2009 survey, 26.7 percent of football players admitted to using marijuana, up from 21.7 percent in 2005.

22 percent of college basketball players admitted to using marijuana in 2009, up from 18.6 percent in 2005.
