As of 2011, the United States Department of State was reporting that there was an estimated 27 million men, women and children around the world who were victims of human trafficking.
Back in 2006, the State Department reported in its Trafficking in Person Report that between 600,000 to 800,000 people were being trafficked worldwide. In 2010, the Department identified 33,113 people who were officially identified as victims of human trafficking.
