Heroin Abuse in Singapore

In 2010, there were 1,787 heroin related arrests in Singapore, with 523 people being first time offenders.

The number of first time offenders in 2010 was a record high, compared to the low of 8 first time offenders in 2005.

Authorities in Singapore seized nearly 50 kilograms of heroin in 2010, a 16 percent increase from 2009. In the first half of 2011, authorities seized 40 kilograms of heroin.

Heroin is sold in 0.2 gram packets for $15 (20 Singapore Dollars). Users and dealers are reported to have set up mobile phone apps in order to facilitate payments and delivery.
