A survey conducted by the Global Cyber Security Response Team in India found at least 10,500 websites on the Internet that allowed for gambling and betting activities. Many of the websites were administered and and set up in countries where online gambling is legal, such as the United Kingdom and Australia.
Although Internet gambling is illegal in countries such as India, many customers are able to place wagers on cricket matches at these websites. The gambling websites don’t accept credit cards from India, but those restrictions are easily bypassed through the use of e-wallet accounts and online payment systems.
